A Course In Miracles

VERNON - This is a Course In Miracles. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite. Book Groups

SOUTH WINDSOR - Abraham-Hicks Study Group - We are studying the just released book “The Vortex”, which focuses on our relationships (most importantly with our own inner being). We watch DVD’s, CD’s, experience group activities and share amazing personal experiences that come from this work. Mondays at 7 p.m. Unity Church of Greater Hartford, 919 Ellington Rd. Drum Circles

SOUTH WINDSOR - Community Drum Circle. Hosted by DENNIS COTTON. Held on the second Thursday of the month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Held at the South Windsor Community Center, 150 Nevers Rd in South Windsor. No prior musical experience necessary (or expected) - All levels welcome - All ages welcome - Instruments provided, OR Bring your own hand drum - No Admission - Absolutely FREE (but donations always welcome). Energy Support

EAST HARTFORD - Sound Healing. A gathering of those with a passion for sound healing with Marie Menut, RN. Come, bring your voices, bowls, bells, gongs, tinshas, and drums. There will be a sound meditation, healings, musical tone poems, where All create Harmony. Held on the third Saturday of the month: September 18, October 16, November 20, and December 18, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Held at Vibrational Healing Center, 966 Tolland Street. ELLINGTON – Reiki Shares. Lauren Mas, RMT. Join us for a session of sharing healing energy and spiritual conversation with Reiki practitioners of all levels and schools. Holistic Health

ELLINGTON - Coyote Talking Circle - RAY HARDY, artist/Marine Corps Vietnam combat veteran is offering a monthly talking/sharing/healing circle based on the work of Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD of Cherokee and Lakota Heritage. Ray especially encourages the participation of veterans as well as community members who might be drawn to traditional group work in which healing occurs when the health of body, mind, spirit and community is addressed and integrated. Explore various healing tools such as deep listening, active imagination, dream work, art, storytelling, music and ceremony as well as other traditional practices. A donation of $5-10/evening is requested to defray costs.

ELLINGTON - Laughter Playshop with MYLENE POITRAS - Laugh your stress away! This Laughter Playshop is to release stress, and feel " la Joie de vivre." Laughter, beside being fun, has great health benefits both mental and physical. It stimulates a mild to moderate cardiovascular workout. It produces endorphins, which counteracts the production of stress hormones. It appears to optimize the immune system. It reduces self-consciousness and boosts self-confidence. It relaxes muscles and helps fight chronic pain associated with muscle tensions. This playshop includes deep breathing, stretching, laughtercises and relaxation. It does not involve a traditional humor or comedy. We laugh for no reason, just for pleasure to have fun and feel invigorated.  Mylene is a Licensed Massage Therapist, expressive arts therapist and certified Laughter Yoga Instructor. Free will donation (suggested $10/meeting). 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Pedi Pal (Pediatric Palliative Care).

GLASTONBURY - Free Healing Services - Healing in Harmony Nights held at simply fitness for the spirit, mind and body and facilitated by PRISCILLA BENGTSON. Stop by the center for a free healing service. Held one Wednesday a month between 5 and 7 p.m. Check Calendar for dates. Participants will sit individually with Priscilla and receive a healing. Each healing will be approximately 8 - 10 minutes. You will be served in the order in which you enter the center. The healing services are offered one night each month. Meditation

ELLINGTON - Sound Healing with EDIE JEMIOLA, RMT. Everything in and about our bodies resonates to sound. Sound used with intention can shift the energy in and around the body to help reestablish physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. Experience the purity and passion of Edie’s voice and quartz crystal bowls which will stimulate healing at a very deep level. Come and soothe your spirit. Relax and de-stress yourself. TOLLAND - Wednesday Meditation - Give yourself a stress and relaxation break! Cultivate present moment awareness through guided meditation. Sitting on cushions, chairs or the mat, we’ll practice awareness of breath, thoughts, feelings, sensations, and sound using different forms of meditation, including healing meditation, mindfulness meditation and chakra meditation. This 30 minute mid-day class is FREE and open to the public as our seva (service) to the community. TOLLANDMindfulness Meditation Starting: Free Mutual-Support Group. Do you want to explore new ways of meditation & centering in a community environment 30 to 60 minutes per week? Have you studied with Jon Kabat Zinn or read his books, including Full Catastrophe Living? Would you like to quiet the mind chatter of the day? Can Mindfulness Meditation play an important life-changing role for you? LOOKING for 4 to 6 people who would like to join in community for a short period of time on a once-per-week basis, to be led through a breath-centered mind-quieting experience of Mindfulness Meditation. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSSARY. Looking to recreate the guided meditation experience created by Cindy Rutledge for 2 years in West Hartford in the 1990’s, possibly with rotating leadership. But if you are too shy to be a leader, don’t worry about it! Beth also has tapes to help get the group started. GLASTONBURY - Articulate Your Life with STEPHEN STITHAM - Articulate your life is a metaphysical support group for those awakening in consciousness. Stephen will use his Clairvoyant abilities to help participants identify, understand and evolve their karmic reasoning. Class size is limited to 6 participants and requires registration.
