Tough Choices
People planning events for Spring looked at the calendar and saw Easter in late March. Picking a date earlier in March risked getting snowed out so they picked one for a weekend early in April; as did everyone else planning events. So clear your calendar and check out our Calendar listings because you have a lot to choose from the first two weekends of April.
Besides the events we talk about in Upcoming Community Events below check out, STEVE MUNN's very affordable EFT Training (April 5), JAMES TWYMAN's much heralded "The Moses Code" release (April 5), GENE ANG's 2012 series (April 6) and authors RAVEN GRIMASSI & STEPHANIE TAYLOR at Enchantments (April 12 & 13), plus much more. We have some tough decisions to make.
And we continue to add new goodies and features to the website. This month it's an environmental weekly podcast, guest blog, a speaker's page, and a new discount store coupon. The website is getting large and we have a lot more planned. If you're having trouble finding your way around or locating a particular page use the Site Map. You'll find the link at the bottom of every page taking you to a concise listing of all the pages on the website.

Upcoming Community Events
The next big event will be the 1st Annual Celebrating Our Holistic Community to be held in East Hartford on Friday, April 11. It will be a combination cabaret and talent show, tribute and roast, and fund raiser for children. Each year someone who has contributed to the community will be honored and this year's honoree is JON ROE. It should be a fun evening that will bring much of the community together. See website for details and reservations.

On Friday, April 4, Breathe ... more in Tolland will hold a Celebration of Spring. A lively evening of community connection, self expression, and revitalization is planned. Facilitators VICKY HANNON and DENNIS COTTON will help us reconnect with our own inner rhythm through a combination of DansKinetics and drumming. A similar event was held for the Winter Solstice; it turned out to be very popular and lots of fun. See our Photo Album of the event.
You can find more information in our Calendar listings.

Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22. There will likely be town events planned the weekend before and perhaps after, but we don't have specifics yet. Those we have are posted on a special page. If you know of events, particularly educational events, please let us know and we'll add them.

Green Things
We've added a weekly audio podcast of environmental news to the Environment Section. By just clicking the widget on that page you can listen to an update of environmental highlights while you do your email or other tasks. The podcast is from Grist magazine, an online environmental news service with a sense of humor. They also provide a daily email newsletter containing environmental news and information.

Spring is the time of year that hazardous waste collections begin again in most towns. Time to safely get rid of anything accumulated over the winter months. For links to information and dates for your town see our Reuse & Recycle page. You'll also find other information here on how to get rid of your unwanted 'stuff' locally.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an innovative way to connect farmers and consumers in a mutually beneficial relationship sharing the risks and rewards of the growing season. The consumer buys a share of the farm's harvest in advance, guaranteeing a market for the farmer's produce. There are at least 17 CSA farms in Connecticut and 3 in our Conscious CT region. For most CSAs, a share consists of an assortment of seasonal, farm-fresh vegetables, herbs and sometimes flowers each week during the harvest season, typically June into October. This is the time of year to sign up for 2008.

Find A Speaker
A new page has been added to the website that lists many of our area's interesting speakers. If you need someone to speak at an event, be it Rotary Club or a holistic fair this page will give you some ideas. This particular list with a description of the talks is from the list of speakers who have presented to The Guild over the last few years. You can find additional ideas and people by looking through our Calendar.

Blog Post: The Oprah and Eckhart Show: A New Earth
For the last few weeks I've been following OPRAH WINFREY's live Internet broadcast with author ECKHART TOLLE, which goes chapter by chapter through his book "A New Earth." The book deals with how to recognize ego and transcend that state of conscious for personal growth and planetary healing. If you haven't heard of this event it's something brand new, at least in its reach, and could be a major contributor to increasing spirituality around the world. Talk about transforming!
There are three things about the broadcast of interest: the book's value to you personally, the phenomena of the broadcast itself, and the energy field it creates. If you haven't participated in this event please check it out. The blog will tell you more and ways to hear or see the braodcast.
