June Is Bustin' Out In Fairs
June promises an abundance of fairs and expos as we head towards Summer. Whatever your passion you should find something to please you - herbs, drums, animals, science or goddesses. And most are outdoors so you can enjoy all that nature offers in June. See Upcoming Community Events for an overview.
As nature awakens in the Spring and sends out new growth, there is something stirring East of the River that hints at new things later this year. New people, new ideas, new energy - something's coming, probably by Fall. Can't tell exactly what form it will take, but it likely will include educational opportunities and outreach to the public. We live in exciting times!
The Summer issue of The Door Opener will be out next week. It should be an interesting issue with articles on nature spirits and the faery world. Many of the events listed for our area have been loaded in the Calendar and Activities section, the rest soon will be.
We continue to add new goodies and features to the website. To help you find information we've added a Search Function based on Google's search engine. You can access it from the Home Page or there is a link at the bottom of every page. It still needs optimizing as Google doesn't recognize updates immediately, but one small step at a time.
Teachers: If you are planning Summer activities for children consistent with Constant CT themes and that will be held in our region please let us know so we can include information in our June eNewsletter.

Author Visits Area
MICHAEL DOWD, author of "Thank God For Evolution" will be at the Willington Library on Thursday, June 19. He and his wife criss cross the country telling the story of evolution in an effort to close the gap between science and religion. His worked is steeped in science and has been well received by both Christians and non-Christians. Don't be put off by the theme. He's a dynamic speaker with an interesting story. A great overview of how the Universe evolved from the big bang to our planet and how we evolved biologically. He also projects where humankind might be headed in the next 200 years, with great hope that we will succeed, while acknowledging the challenges we face.
For more information on Michael Dowd visit his website; for more information on the event see our Calendar listing.

An album of photos from April's Celebrating Our Holistic Community night is now online. It was an evening of food, fun and cabaret bringing together people from our holistic and wellness community. This year’s honoree was JON ROE for over 20 years of supporting holistic and spiritual activities in Connecticut. BOB LEO also received an award for his contributions to networking the community. As you'll see it was an opportunity to experience another side of people you are familiar with and a gathering of many old and new faces.
The gallery can be accessed from the Communication section of the website with new entries posted on the Home page.

Farmers' Markets Opening For The Season
The Farmers' Markets are opening for the season. They are a great way to find healthy fresh food, support local agriculture and help the environment. As demand for better food has grown so has the number of markets. And many of the markets have become events in themselves with other vendors, music and activities for children.
In our Health Section we list information on all the Farmers' Markets in our region. As we went to press many had not yet updated their information, so check the links for changes.
Kicking things off on Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with a day of festivities is Coventry's Market in a new location at the Nathan Hale Homestead. And on Wednesday, June 11 from 2-5 p.m. Manchester Community College will hold its first market of the year. New location this year at the bandshell. See the Calendar for specifics.

Blog Post: Getting Involved
There are great opportunities if you are retired and would like to make a difference. The compensation doesn't come in dollars, but in things that money can't buy. You can continue using the skills you have developed over a lifetime while meeting new people, finding a new place in the community and you will find you continue to grow as you help others.
We hope to use Conscious CT to build the spiritual community. We have big dreams but need help in realizing them. Over the summer we will begin the next phase of Conscious CT, which will include an educational component. We'll need writers, planners and organizers and who knows what else. There are also opportunities at a number of centers in the area. If you would like to start a new adventure in your life send me an email and let me know your interests. Hopefully you'll find it as rewarding as I have.
