Environment
This section of our website includes information, news and resources relating to the environment to help you answer your questions. What's going on? How do I find green businesses? Where do I recycle waste they won't take with the weekly trash? Is there help and ideas for conservation? How can we preserve open space in town? Where are good places to hike? How can I become more active in protecting the environment?
Click on the Grist link on the left for a weekly audio podcast of environmental news. We welcome your questions and ideas for other resources.

Land Preservation & Hiking
Our region of the state includes a bounty of farms, forests, lakes and streams; but they are threatened by suburban sprawl and if we want to maintain our close connection with nature we must work to preserve what remains and grow our towns intelligently. This section lists many of the preservation groups in our region that preserve land. They need your support and are a great way to get involved.
These properties are also great places for hiking. Most maintain trails and some lead educational walks.
