Robin Clare presents Bob his award.
|
Bob provides a unique networking and communication service to the Connecticut holistic community. He helps people promote their metaphysical, spiritual and alternative health events by forwarding workshop descriptions and other information to his extensive email list. He does this as his service to the community without charge.
Bob has found a way of combining his enjoyment of holistic events with helping to make them successful. He often attends 5 or 6 events each week and has come to know many of the workshop leaders around the state and is a familiar face at gatherings. He has a special knowledge of what is happening, what's available and has sampled most of the teachers and techniques in the area. One of his roles is being a facilitator to encourage these community events.
You can be added to his email list just by emailing your request.
If you are interested in having event information forwarded to his list, send it to him for consideration but please keep in mind that with the volume of requests he receives there can be a time delay of a week and at other times he has had to turn some away. With the volume of email he handles please don't expect him to rewrite it for you.
Background
Growing up, Bob's father was in the Army and his family constantly moved around the country and the world. He lived at various times in Hartford, Manchester, Southington, New Britain and East Hartford, CT, Fort Knox, KY, Norfolk, VA, Camp Hakata and Itazuke Air Force Base, Japan, and Fort Sill, OK.
Bob graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA in mathematics with highest honors. He received awards for University Scholar, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Mu Epsilon and during his time at the Hartford Branch was granted the outstanding Chemistry award. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a MA in mathematics.
He started full time in IT with a job at United Aircraft Research Laboratories (now United Technologies Research Center) in 1968 and has worked more than 40 years in IT with a number of other companies including Gerber Scientific, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, General Electric, Combustion Engineering, CimTelligence, Pitney Bowes, Ascom Hasler Mailing Systems and currently IBM. As part of Bob's role in IBM as an account manager and business office manager, he interacts on a daily basis with other IBM employees in India and Brazil.
This is certainly not the background you would expect of someone who now enjoys workshops and courses in advanced psychic development, shamanism, mediumship, dowsing and healing modalities. What drew Bob to this area was his curiosity. With his scientific background he felt there was more to what was happening and started to explore the metaphysical/spiritual arena.
He received an award in 2008 at the Celebrating Our Holistic Community event in East Hartford for his contributions to the community in networking and communication.
Organizational Involvement
Bob believes in being actively involved in his areas of interest. Rather than just being a participant or member of an organization he usually is involved in some capacity of its administration or in committee work. Some of these organizations are work related, some holistic/spiritual and others reflect his varied interests.
In the technical area Bob is Chairman of an Industrial Advisory Board for Manufacturing Technology at Central Connecticut State University and is active in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Hartford Chapter 7 performing roles of Secretary, Scholarship Chairman and Chapter Liaison with Central Connecticut State University.
He is also a volunteer with the Ambassador's group at the New Britain Museum of American Art and has been an Area Coordinator for the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Mensa group for many years.
In the holistic-spiritual area, in addition to his communication service, Bob has served on the board of the Astrological Society of Connecticut and is currently on the boards of the Newington Church of the Infinite Spirit, the Connecticut State Spiritualist Asso. and The Fox Center for Spiritual Awareness.
